Acrylic Hexagonal Templates
These acrylic hexagonal templates allow you to cut precise hexagons in the blink of an eye, to be used with a cutter and a cutting mat.
They are particularly useful for tessellation folders and any project requiring clean hexagonal sheets, without pre-creases in the center of the paper. You can even cut several sheets at once, up to about 5 or 6 sheets depending on the paper.
Three Sizes Available
Each template allows you to cut a regular hexagon. The distance between two opposite points corresponds to twice the side length. Therefore, you can cut your hexagon from a square whose side measures twice the length of the hexagon's side.
Small
Side: 5 inches / 12.7 cm
Point to point: 10 inches / 25.4 cm
Medium
Side: 6 inches / 15.2 cm
Point to point: 12 inches / 30.4 cm
Large
Side: 7 inches / 17.8 cm
Point to point: 14 inches / 35.6 cm
In origami tessellation, the quality of the starting material matters greatly. A poorly cut hexagon can complicate the grid placement, create small cumulative errors, and make folding less enjoyable.
With these templates, you can quickly prepare your sheets before a folding session, a workshop, or a series project. The cut is clean, reproducible, and without any unwanted creases in the center of the hexagon.
Select the desired size before adding the template to your cart.
Tip: Create a Transparent Frame
If you own two hexagonal templates of the same size, you can remove the brown protective films and place your tessellation between the two transparent plates. The holes in the corners allow you to assemble the two hexagons with small screws to create a clear and elegant frame.
This solution is particularly interesting for hanging a tessellation in front of a window to fully enjoy the play of light through the paper.
