The basic origami symbols are used to describe the folding instructions. They are based on those developed by Akira Yoshizawa and improved since then to obtain today a set of internationally recognized conventions. They constitute the "Solfeggio" or "language" of origami. It is necessary to know them to be able to fold from a diagram.
